13 days from Sorrento to Venice
'Carpe Diem.' Did you know this phrase is from a poem written by Roman poet Horace in 23 BC? Even 2,000 years ago, he knew you should 'seize the day!' At Monograms, we agree, and that's why we've made it easy for you to 'seize the day' and travel to Sorrento, Rome, Florence, and Venice. On this 13-day vacation, we've arranged your hotel reservations, sightseeing, transportation between cities, transfers from/to your hotels to/from the train stations, and daily breakfast. Plus, to help you feel comfortable and at home in the cities, we've arranged the services of a Local Host, someone who will answer your questions, offer insights, help arrange your activities, and ensure your vacation runs smoothly.

Your trip begins in Sorrento. The nearest airport is Naples, but we can pick you up at the Naples airport and take you to your selected hotel in Sorrento. Here, your Local Host will be waiting for you to help you get settled and start exploring immediately. You'll be given a set of materials to help familiarize you with the city and the next morning, after included breakfast, we'll take you on a sightseeing tour with a local expert, someone who knows the city's little-known secrets and insider stories. In fact, in each city your Local Host will give you a Destination Guide full of helpful information, and we'll pick you up at your hotel for guided sightseeing with an expert Local Guide.

In Sorrento, your Local Guide will take you for a walk through the Old Town and for a visit to the cloister of St. Francis Church. We've also arranged for you to sample limoncello, the world-famous liqueur made with Sorrento's lemons. In Rome, your guided sightseeing includes all the attractions you must see while you're in Rome. We'll take you to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, where you'll view Michelangelo's The Last Judgment and his famous ceiling paintings. We'll also take you to St. Peter's Square and Basilica, built in 313 AD and where today the Pope often presides; the iconic Colosseum, built in the 1st century and used for gladiatorial contests; and the Roman Forum, where you'll see the oldest structures from ancient Rome. In Florence, your sightseeing includes a walk through the city and a visit to the Academy of Fine Arts to see Michelangelo's original David. In Venice, you'll visit Doges' Palace, the symbol of Venice, and the Bridge of Sighs, as well as St. Mark's Square and Basilica. Glassmaking has always been important in Venetian history, and we've arranged for you to see a skilled glassblower in action. We've also included entrances to the Marciana Library, and the Correr and Archaeological Museums-just another added feature!

In each city, you'll have a full day to explore on your own. But don't worry, your Local Hosts will offer you suggestions and help arrange the activities and excursions you desire. In Sorrento, you may want to take a scenic drive along the Amalfi Coast, where you'll see stunningly beautiful views, or you may just want to relax in this beautiful resort town. In Rome, the possibilities are endless! Perhaps take a walking tour, sample the mouth-watering cuisine, and throw a coin in Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to Rome. In Florence, you may want to take an excursion to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower; enjoy a guided visit of the Uffizi Gallery, one of Europe's most famous art museums; or browse the Central Market with its colorful displays of olive oil, pasta, herbs, and wine. In Venice, where your vacation ends, you may want to sit back on a gondola as you are serenaded while you float through Venice's canals, take a ghost tour, or just wander the maze of alleys looking for the perfect souvenir.

And did we mention we've arranged transportation for you via the high-speed trains (first-class) between each city? We'll even pick you up at your hotel, take you to the train station, pick you up at the next train station, and take you to your hotel in each city. The Italian train system may seem confusing if you're not local, which is why our Local Host helps you get on the correct train! Between the transportation and transfers we've included, the sightseeing and guides we've arranged, and the hotels we've booked, all you have to do is remember your camera and pack your bags. Add the comfort of knowing you'll have a Local Host in each city to assist you, and you've got yourself a vacation of a lifetime!
